Personal Safety 101: Tips To Survive House Parties
Parties are an integral part of the college experience for some, but it’s as important to stay safe as it is to have fun. Check out our top 5 tips to have a great time and make it home safely!
Arrive and stick with a group so you can keep an eye on each other. Whether one of you has too much to drink, needs help, or goes missing, the rest of you will notice and be able to act.
Never leave your drink unattended at parties—odorless and tasteless drugs, like roofies, can easily be added to your cup. This goes for men as well as women.
It should go without saying, but don’t drink and drive. Have a designated driver to get you home or make sure your public transit card is loaded before you leave the station. If you’re planning on using a ridesharing service like Lyft or Uber, remember to check the license plate of the car before getting inside.
Decide on a meet-up point and a time to leave the party. Pick a place, set a time, and don’t leave until everyone is with you.
Use the BestRides app to let your inner circle know when you arrive home or alert them in the worst case scenario – at parties, in Ubers, when walking home, or anywhere else.
